The Jimmy Carter Library houses the archives of the Carter administration. This view shows how the papers are stored in a humidity and temperature-controlled environment. The Carter Library contains over 27 million pages of documents; 500,000 photographs; 40,000 objects; and motion picture film, videotapes, and audiotapes. The archives document the policies and activities of the president and the Executive Office staff from 1977 - 1981. Subjects range from foreign policy, the domestic economy, the environment, and social issues as well as daily life in the White House, the arts, and entertainment. The archives are a resource for historians, journalists, writers and others studying American history in the last half of the 1970s, and for researchers involved in book illustrations, television documentaries, or motion pictures. |
